Frequently Asked Questions

Accommodation
Where will the student stay?
Student Accommodation: Students under the age of 18 are placed in the care of host families (Homestay) with children of the same age group. Staying with a local family affords the student the opportunity to experience insight into the way of life and culture of Barbados. Students make more progress in language acquisition as they continue practicing the foreign language in real life situations after classes.

Mature students are offered the option to stay either with a host family, or in alternate accommodation of their choosing.

How is my homestay family chosen?
Homestay: All host families are well researched and known personally by the school. The Codrington Language Centre ensures that students are placed with families who have children of a similar age, with common interests.

What can I expect from my host family?
Expectations: Your host family will be responsible for your well being for the duration of your stay in Barbados. They will provide you with meals, accommodation and be involved in the extra curricular activities.

Will I have my own bedroom?
