The School
What time do the classes start and finish?
Class time: Academic classes begin at 8:30 am and finish at 12:30pm. The afternoon is filled with exciting excursions to give students the opportunity to practice their English in real settings.
 
What happens on the first day?
First Day: Students are welcomed to the programme with morning refreshments, followed by a tour of the school and an overview of the course. A picnic lunch is served at the beach where the afternoon is spent getting to know the teachers and other students.
 
How many students are in a class?
Class Size: Classes are kept comfortably small – with six (06) to twelve (12) students per class - providing students with the opportunity to participate actively in classroom discussions and benefit from the individual attention of dedicated, caring faculty members. All classes are coeducational.
 
Is the student required to purchase books?
Course Material: All course material and equipment is provided by The Codrington Language Centre and included in the fees for the programme.
 
What are the lessons like?
Is there homework?
Homework: Homework comprises an informal review carried out by the teacher with the students prior to the end of the day. While at home, students will have the opportunity to enjoy English movies, books, magazines, games etc.
 
Are the teachers qualified?
Teaching Staff: The Codrington Language Centre is proud to offer well-qualified and experienced teachers, who are astute in teaching English as a foreign language. These enthusiastic professionals were specifically selected for their qualifications and their friendly, approachable nature.
 
How is the student’s progress assessed?
Assessment: Students are assessed throughout and at the end of a course. At the end of the course, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their language acquisition through mediums of their choice, including: power point presentations, puppetry, drama, and other means.

A Certificate of Participation stating the number of course work hours completed is awarded to all attending students. Upon completion of a course, this certificate will indicate that the student is ready to move to the next level.

A Certificate of Merit is presented to those students who have excelled beyond expectations in any particular course or part thereof.

A Diploma is awarded to students of the advanced course.

World TOEFL certificates are also presented to qualifying advanced course students.
